Hillsborough County, Fla. (May 16, 2025) - Hillsborough County has hosted public meetings this spring across the county to explore the extent of the impacts of Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton by hearing from residents who live in areas most impacted. Monday night's meeting in Ruskin will be the final in-person opportunity.

The deadline for residents to take the Regional Stormwater Evaluation survey online has been extended to Friday, May 23.

The final in-person meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the Lennard High School theater, 2342 E. Shell Point Rd., Ruskin, FL 33570.

The listening sessions do not include a formal presentation. Residents who attend the event on Monday will be encouraged also to take the online survey, and those who are not able to attend now can take the survey until Friday, May 23. The survey will provide input that will be helpful in flood mitigation and resiliency planning.

Hillsborough County has engaged an outside engineering firm to conduct a thorough independent assessment of the impacts from 2024's severe rain events on stormwater infrastructure. As part of this assessment, community input is being gathered during this series of public meetings. Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings to describe how the storm events affected roads, private property, and businesses. A total of eight public meetings are being held across the county, strategically located to be near residents who were impacted most by the storms.

Virtual Public Engagement Opportunity

The County is conducting a virtual engagement using the Hillsborough Engagement & Education Hub to collect feedback from the public on flooding impacts. The virtual engagement is open until May 23, 2025. Visit HCFL.Gov/HCEngage to participate.
