Share your hurricane prep story by June 1 to help improve emergency planning
The University of South Florida (USF) is asking Hillsborough County residents to take part in a short survey about how they prepared for Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Researchers want to learn what helped people decide whether to stay home or evacuate.
The goal is to help emergency management and public health officials better understand what you experienced before, during, and after the hurricanes. The results will help them improve how they share information during hurricane season.

USF hurricane research
For the past 10 years, USF's Geosciences team has worked with meteorologists, emergency managers, and other researchers to study how people respond to hurricanes.
Their work has focused on areas affected by major storms, including Florida, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Gulf Coast states like Louisiana and Alabama. The team has studied responses to storms like Hurricanes Matthew, Irma, Laura, Sally, Delta, Ida, and Ian.
