The Triple Workshops

The Triple Workshops are a series of three workshops that occur back-to-back: Composting, Micro Irrigation, and Rainwater Harvesting. The classes are provided for Hillsborough County and City of Tampa residents. Residents can attend any or all of the workshops. Each of the three workshops costs $10, and registration is required. Residents will receive a special item at each workshop, including a compost bin, micro irrigation kit, and a food-grade barrel. The limit for these items is one per household, and the representative of the household must be an adult.

Marvelous Mangroves: Ecology, Protection and Maintenance

Join UF/IFAS Hillsborough County Urban Forestry Extension Agent and Sea Grant Agent for an in-depth discussion on mangroves. They will cover mangrove ecology, identification, protection, and shoreline maintenance best practices including recommended trimming best practices. This class will be conducted in the classroom as well as outdoors and involves lots of walking.

This class has associated International Society of Arboriculture-approved Continuing Education Units. There is no cost to attend. Registration is required.

Gardening With Native Plants

Learn to garden with native plants and select species that are native to Florida that match your site conditions. Native plants provide ecological benefits important to a healthy garden, such as habitat for wildlife and food for pollinators. This class will cover native wildflowers, perennials, shrubs, and trees suitable for planting in Central Florida home landscapes. This class will be held in person and attendees will receive seeds, a plant, and a list of native plants for the region. Registration is required. There is a non-refundable $10 registration fee per individual for this workshop.
