Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 28, 2025) - Hillsborough County is hosting another public meeting this week in Plant City to evaluate and gather public input about the cumulative flooding impacts of seasonal rainfall and Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton.
This week's public meeting is part of a series of listening open houses taking place across Hillsborough County over the next few weeks. Next week, an event will be held in South Tampa.
The meetings are designed to explore the extent of the impact of the storms by hearing from residents who live in areas most impacted. Residents at the meetings also can take this online survey to help Hillsborough County design potential regional flood mitigation and resiliency strategies. There will not be a formal presentation.
Hillsborough County has engaged an outside engineering firm to conduct a thorough independent assessment of the impacts from 2024's severe rain events on stormwater infrastructure. Community input will be obtained during the public meetings. Residents are encouraged to attend these meetings to describe how the storm events affected roads, private property, and businesses. The eight public meetings will occur across the county, strategically located to be near residents who were impacted most by the storms.
