Ribbon-cutting ceremony set for Thursday for Baytown Apartments
Hillsborough County, Fla. (March 5, 2025) - Another 30 affordable apartments are coming to Hillsborough County, half of them for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Baytown Apartments, 7155 Montague St., Tampa, FL 33635, will reserve 15 units for those with a severe, chronic disability. Baytown is specifically designed to offer an independent living option for those with autism, spina bifida, Down syndrome, and other medical conditions. The result is a rare opportunity for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live in a supportive community where they can interact with neurotypical residents, to the benefit of both populations.
Hillsborough County provided more than $1.5 million in funding for the $16 million project, which is a joint venture between CDS Monarch and InVictus Development LLC. All 30 apartments are reserved for those making 60 percent or less of Area Median Income.
Baytown Apartments will consist of 15 one-bedroom, one-bathroom units and 15 two-bedroom, two-bathroom units. Common-area amenities include a computer center, fitness center, community room, and picnic area.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Baytown Apartments will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 6.
