Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 12, 2024) - Having a baby is a momentous, joyful, and life-changing experience. It also is expensive. Costs add up quickly for diapers, clothes, baby wipes, strollers, and so many other items involved in raising a child.
Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation is trying to alleviate the financial pressure on new parents and give newborns a strong start with its third annual It Takes A Village Community Baby Shower. Shower organizers collected donated items from the community and will distribute diapers, baby shampoo, toys, and other items to 25 expectant mothers on Saturday, April 13.
The expectant mothers have pre-registered - registration is now closed - and will attend Saturday's event to participate in traditional baby shower games, hear speakers and get information on resources for healthy pregnancies and babies, and receive their gifts. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Area Community Complex, 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33613.
