Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2024) - Hillsborough County is hosting an open house on Thursday, Feb. 15, to engage the 78th Street corridor community about improvements being made in the area to enhance safety for all roadway users.
Palm River's 78th Street has a history of vehicle and pedestrian crashes. This project will provide pedestrian safety enhancements and placemaking elements to about 1.25 miles of the 78th Street corridor.
The County-funded project will install pavement markings, signs, and median street art aimed at pedestrian safety. More changes are being planned and will be funded through a Federal Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant awarded to the County.
A public engagement on Hillsborough County's Education & Engagement Hub is open for residents to review the project and leave comments and suggestions through Feb. 29. In addition to the online engagement, residents can attend an open house at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, to learn more.
