Hillsborough County, Fla. (Dec. 18, 2023) - More affordable housing for low-income seniors is coming to eastern Hillsborough County.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, for the Casa di Francesco housing complex, 4450 Mango Rd., Seffner, FL 33584. The four-story Casa di Francesco will contain 140 rental apartments - 100 one-bedroom units and 40 two-bedroom units. Amenities include a clubhouse with exercise room, library, walking trail, and community garden. The housing complex is being built on land owned by St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Developed by Blue Sky Communities, the project is expected to be completed in early 2025. Hillsborough County helped provide $6.1 million in funding for the project.
The programs and services funded by Hillsborough County focus on creating new affordable housing opportunities, training for residents to further their careers and afford home ownership, and infrastructure improvements that enhance the communities around them.
Formed in 2012, Blue Sky Communities is a Tampa Bay-based developer of affordable and workforce housing that frequently works with local governments and nonprofits.
