This Committee advises and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and the Hillsborough County Pet Resources Department on issues concerning the long range plans, general policies, shelter programs and services in the County.

Additionally, it advises the BOCC and county administration regarding revisions to the Animal Ordinance, animal related resolutions, and policies concerning companion animals in Hillsborough County.
Membership
The membership of this Committee shall be comprised of ten members appointed as follows:
- Hillsborough County Commissioners - 1 member each
- Hillsborough County Veterinarian Medical Society - 2 members
- Humane Society of Tampa Bay Board of Directors - 1 member
Terms
Members shall serve four year terms. Members may not serve more than two full consecutive terms.
