District 6 County Commissioner
County Commissioner Chris Boles was elected in November 2024 to represent Countywide District 6 on the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. Prior to his election, Commissioner Boles served as a Battalion Chief with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, bringing over 28 years of leadership and dedication to public service. Drawing on his extensive experience as a firefighter and community leader, he aims to contribute a unique perspective rooted in critical thinking and practical solutions to the Board.
Commissioner Boles believes in the importance of eliminating wasteful spending and unnecessary costs in Hillsborough County's budget. His focus will be on prioritizing the core functions of government, including ensuring public safety, improving roadways, developing infrastructure to support sustainable and measured growth, and maintaining fiscal responsibility to safeguard taxpayer funds.
Commissioner Boles is deeply committed to community service and has long championed the well-being of first responders through various charitable and labor initiatives. He serves as the Executive Director of Hillsborough County Firefighter Charities, providing critical aid and resources to firefighters and their families in times of need. Also, as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Florida West Coast Credit Union, he oversees millions in assets, ensuring high-quality financial services and education for its broad membership.
For the past 26 years, Commissioner Boles has served as a Principal Officer and Treasurer of Hillsborough County Fire Fighters Local 2294, advocating for the rights and interests of the County's fire service personnel. His dedication extends to mentoring children as a burn buddy for the Children's Burn Foundation and serving on the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Honor Guard, reflecting his unwavering commitment to supporting both his community and his fellow first responders.
Commissioner Boles, a native Floridian, moved to Hillsborough County 36 years ago. He is married to his beloved wife, Amber, an accomplished attorney in the Tampa Bay area. Together, they are proud parents to their daughter, whom they feel deeply blessed to have adopted.
Urban Service Area (USA) Expansion Public Hearing

- Description: Hillsborough County is expected to grow by more than 530,000 people by 2050. To manage this growth, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has directed the expansion of the Urban Service Area to accommodate new services, businesses, and homes. The Urban Service Area, designated on the Future Use Land Map, ensures development is supported by public services like sewer and water.
Phase 1 of the expansion will extend the Urban Service Area boundary and change future land uses in Wimauma and Balm, while Phase 2 will assess infrastructure needs along the I-4 Corridor and Little Manatee South.
2025 Neighborhoods Expo

- Description: The annual Neighborhoods Expo connects neighborhoods to their County government. The Expo features exhibits by County departments, allowing residents to meet and talk to them directly. This year's theme, Opening Doors to Hillsborough County, invites residents to explore a host of exhibits in an open house format to learn about the important programs and services our County provides.
