Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 26, 2024) - Hillsborough County offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
There is no collection of garbage, recyclables, or yard waste on Thanksgiving Day, and all disposal sites will be closed with the exception of two temporary debris collection sites that will remain open. Normal scheduled pickup for garbage, recyclables, or yard waste will resume on Friday, Nov. 29, for customers in the unincorporated Hillsborough County Solid Waste service area, which includes Tampa Palms, Hunter's Green, and New Tampa. For customers whose collection day falls on Thursday, normal service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day for pickup of garbage, recyclables, or yard waste.
All disposal facilities, including the Southeast County Landfill, Northwest and South County transfer stations, Resource Recovery Facility, community collection centers, and yard waste processing facilities will be open regular hours on Friday to continue to allow residents to drop off storm debris at the collection facilities and temporary debris management sites.
While Solid Waste facilities are closed on Thanksgiving Day, two temporary debris collection sites will continue operations 24 hours a day, including on Thanksgiving Day:
- Hillsborough Heights Temporary Debris Site - 6209 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584 (temporary entrance on Taylor Road)
- Resource Recovery Facility - 350 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619

All conservation parks and skate parks will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and will reopen on Friday. All dog parks will be open Thursday and Friday.
