Trash collection continues with normal trash, recycling, and yard waste collections

Hillsborough County trash collection resumed normal collection schedules post Hurricane Debby. Visit the County website for information on your collection days and community collection centers for bulky items.

As a reminder, if you have garbage, recycling, or yard waste that needs to be collected, the carts and yard waste should be placed at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. on the day before collection and no later than after 6 a.m. on your designated collection day.

Please follow the regular guidelines for curbside pick up of yard and wood waste. A few tips include:

  • Only put yard waste out on your designated day
  • Weekly limit of yard waste is 2 cubic yards or less
  • Yard waste should be stored in containers or bags, each no more than 50 pounds
  • Limbs and branches must be less than 4 feet long and 6 inches in diameter
  • Yard waste must be bundled, neatly stacked, or placed in a yard waste container as it is collected by hand
  • Yard waste must be placed within 6 feet of the curb

Residential property owners who need assistance with large amounts of yard debris are asked to complete the Hurricane Debby Post-Storm Assessment. The information will be routed to the appropriate County department, which will respond within 72 hours. All requests for assistance will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Property owners are ultimately responsible for yard waste and may be directed to take yard debris to one of the two County yard waste sites or to work with a private tree service.

Property owners who need assistance completing the form should call the Hillsborough County Customer Service & Support Line Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at (813) 272-5900, and select Option 9.
