Residents can give feedback on plans for southeastern Hillsborough park in person Dec. 5 or online Dec. 5-18

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 30, 2023) - Hillsborough County is adding pickleball courts and a walking path to Balm Park and is asking residents for input on a long-range master plan for the park and community center.

Residents can attend an open house at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Balm Park Recreation Center, 14747 Balm Wimauma Rd., Wimauma, FL 33598.

In addition to the eight pickleball courts and walking loop, the project includes improvements to the park's entrance, 22 paved parking spaces, and a stormwater retention pond. The $600,000 project is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and should begin sometime in the second half of 2024.

The County also is looking for suggestions on future projects at this park. These projects are not currently funded, but the information will help with future improvements. Such improvements could include, but are not limited to, a playground, walking paths, fitness zones, community pavilion, and an outdoor gymnasium with indoor multipurpose rooms.
